My neighborhood looks so peaceful and average reflected in my car wind – one would never think that just yards away is the wild, wild west of the high desert.

Born in Illinois in the mid-1950s and raised in West Texas and North Carolina, I was never quite sure whether to be a gangster, a cowgirl or a Southern Belle. Now, at 60-something, I think I have some of it figured out and am ready to share some of my hard-fought-for wisdom with the rest of the world. Well, anyone who is willing to read it and have a little laugh at themselves anyway.
