This morning was all about the triumphant navigation to the coffee pot after a horrid night of battling insomnia. Having successfully navigated as far as the coffee pot and managing to obtain the perfect cup of coffee, my day is made – obviously, I am a simple person! I like the way the colors of the coffee repeat in the counter top, separated by the contrasting color of the cup – soothing in a way.

Born in Illinois in the mid-1950s and raised in West Texas and North Carolina, I was never quite sure whether to be a gangster, a cowgirl or a Southern Belle. Now, at 60-something, I think I have some of it figured out and am ready to share some of my hard-fought-for wisdom with the rest of the world. Well, anyone who is willing to read it and have a little laugh at themselves anyway.
